From Casa Doñana to Seville

Please find below the only directions I know for the centre of Seville. I have never entered the city by any other route. You can reach most parts of the town centre with relative ease from the Magdalena Car Park. You may prefer to find your own way. However if you want a safe route in then I would recommend you use these.

  • Take the A49 motorway towards Seville; you will join it at junction 34 which actually means 34kms from Seville. That is how all motorway junctions in Spain are numbered, ie the distance from the major towns.
  • Keep going on the motorway and you’ll notice the junction numbers decreasing as you get closer to Seville.
  • When you get to Junctions, 2(km) and 1(km) you’ll notice lots of hoardings and it beginning to get built up and you should see Ikea and Carrefour on your left.
  • You basically stay on the same road all the way into Seville itself but here are some more pointers for your reassurance.
  • When you get to Junction Zero it gets a bit spaghetti junction-ish with two major turnoffs for other motorways. Keep coming straight on Direction Sevilla Centro Urbano (think this is the left hand lane at junction zero.
  • As you go over two rivers you will know you are getting very close to the city. There will be three lanes. Stay in the middle lane.
  • After the last bridge, which has blue posts and umbrella types arrangements, the road will fork to the left and right. You want the right hand fork (signposted “centro ciudad”) and make sure you are in the left hand lane as soon as possible.
  • You will join another road which will filter into your road from the left. Again you must get over to the left hand side as soon as possible. You may have to compete with the cars on the left wanting to filter right, ie into your lane.
  • You will see a largish, Mercedes Dealership called “Concesur” on your left.
  • Turn left at the traffic lights next to this dealership (signposted city centre)
  • Keep going straight on.
  • You will notice the three or four lanes filter down to 1 lane until eventually you will encounter a cobbled road. Just as this begins you will see signs for car parks. You want to go straight on direction “Magdalena” Car Park.
  • After a few hundred metres look out for an underground car park on the right hand side. This is San Pablo street. Often there may be quite a lot of cars queuing for the car park.
  • This car park is actually below Spain’s largest department Store “el Corte Ingles”. A great landmark should you get lost on your return.
  • To get to Plaza Nueva, a major landmark in Seville and a good bearing point, take the car park stairs or lift to Calle San Pablo and when you come out – you’ll see the entrance to the car park you drove into – turn right and right again down Mendez Nunez street, with el Corte Ingles on your right hand side at all times.
  • You will then arrive at Plaza Nueva.
  • Now you’re on your own. Enjoy!
